Consider moving the teacher’s desk to the back of the room, not the front.
In terms of collaboration, it will send the strong signal that ‘we’ are learning this and the focus becomes more on the material and less on the teacher. Difficult to do in shared classrooms, but if you have a base room, certainly worth a try.
Use a mouse clicker to advance slides or the like from the back.
This may also help get us away from the visual of all desks facing the front- which limits discussions and the sharing of ideas. By using groups, there can be a greater dynamic in terms of differentiation, as well as pupils supporting each other.
